Why We Chose Sheraton Fiji
When planning our Fiji holiday, we wanted beautiful pools, plenty of dining options, activities beyond simply swimming and easy access to the golf course. We also wanted enough variety that we wouldn't need to leave the resort every day and somewhere that felt easy and relaxed for a first visit to Fiji.
As first-time visitors, Denarau felt simpler than committing to an island resort. We loved having access to day trips, golf, restaurants and entertainment without needing to worry about boat transfers or constantly moving accommodation.
Another factor that appealed to us was the golf. Rory enjoys playing while on holiday, and Sheraton's location beside Denarau Golf & Racquet Club meant everyone could enjoy the trip differently. While Rory headed out for a round of golf, Henry and I could spend the morning by the pool, join an activity or simply relax before meeting up later in the day.
Sheraton Fiji ticked all those boxes.
What surprised us most was just how much there was to do. We expected to spend most of our days around the pool, but there always seemed to be another activity, show or cultural experience happening around the resort.
Our first impression?
Sheraton felt like more than just a hotel — it felt like a destination in itself.

Rooms & Accommodation
The recent renovation made a huge difference. Compared with some other Denarau resorts, Sheraton has some of the nicest standard rooms.
Guests can choose from Garden View, Ocean View and Oceanfront rooms, all with either a balcony or patio.
Everything felt fresh and contemporary, and we found the rooms comfortable and practical for a family of three.
Pools & Beach
The multiple pools meant there was always somewhere to swim without feeling crowded, and unlike some resorts, we never struggled to find a sun lounge.
One thing we particularly liked was the atmosphere around the swim-up bar. It felt social and relaxed rather than loud or party-focused, which suited the overall feel of the resort perfectly.
The beach itself isn't why most people visit Denarau, but evening walks and sunsets over the Mamanuca Islands quickly became one of our favourite rituals.

Restaurants & Dining
One thing we really appreciated during our stay was the variety. Between the restaurants at Sheraton and access to neighbouring Sheraton Villas, we never felt like we were eating the same meals over and over again.
Restaurant Guide
Restaurant | Best For | Rating |
Tatavu Grill & Bar | Sunset dinners and cocktails | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
Island 619 | Breakfast and themed buffet dinners | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
Heineken House | Casual meals and pizzas | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
Sega Na Leqa | Fried chicken and beers | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
Wet Edge | Relaxed waterfront dining | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
28g | Coffee and pastries | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
Guests can also enjoy Wet Edge Restaurant at neighbouring Sheraton Villas, giving even more variety during a longer stay.
Our Favourite: Tatavu Grill & Bar
Tatavu was easily our favourite restaurant of the trip.
With steaks, cocktails and sunset views over the water, it offered a more refined dining experience than many of the casual restaurants around Port Denarau. It felt like somewhere to slow down and enjoy a special holiday dinner.
Families with younger children should know that Tatavu has a noticeably more relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere, while Island 619 is lively and busy, making it ideal for families wanting plenty of choice.

Island 619: Worth Checking the Dinner Theme
Island 619 serves the resort's buffet breakfast each morning, while dinner features rotating themed buffets.
During our stay, themes ranged from seafood nights to Fijian-inspired dinners. It's worth checking the schedule when you arrive, as some themes may appeal more than others.
That said, we found there was always plenty of variety, so even if the theme itself wasn't something our family would normally choose, there were enough options to keep everyone happy.
Morning Coffee at 28g
One of our favourite routines quickly became starting the day with coffee from 28g.
Whether it was before breakfast or on the way to the pool, grabbing a coffee and something sweet became part of our holiday rhythm.
Unexpected Favourite: Heineken House
One of our family traditions quickly became meeting up at Heineken House after Rory finished his round of golf, enjoying a game of pool, pizzas and a relaxed evening together.
Located just a short walk from the resort, it had a fantastic atmosphere, great pizzas and casual meals, and became one of those places we kept returning to throughout the week.
It perfectly summed up the easy, laid-back feel of Sheraton.

Side By Side Kids Club
As parents of an only child, we found the Side By Side Kids Club incredibly welcoming.
When we popped in to check on Henry, he was happily playing rugby with some of the staff and other children and clearly having the time of his life. They made him feel genuinely special, and it was lovely seeing how naturally they included everyone.
What we particularly liked was that Sheraton encouraged families to experience Fiji together rather than simply dropping children off all day.
