Our Guide to Getting Premier League Tickets from Australia

If you’re travelling from Australia and hoping to see a Premier League match while you’re in the UK, working out how to actually get tickets can be confusing.
There isn’t always a straightforward general sale. Depending on the club and the match, you may need to buy a membership, register for a ballot, wait for a later ticket release or book official hospitality.
We’re Liverpool supporters, and across different UK trips we’ve attended Premier League matches in three different ways: through Liverpool membership, through another club’s membership and ballot, and through official hospitality.
Each worked for us, but for different reasons.

Option 1: Join the Club You Support
If you want to see the team you support play at home, start with the club’s official membership and ticketing system.
Premier League clubs don’t all use the same process. Membership is often the gateway to tickets, but what happens next varies, some clubs use ballots, some release tickets directly to members, and some have different membership levels or priority systems.
Two commonly sought-after teams are Liverpool and Manchester United. Liverpool FC uses its All Red membership system, with eligible members registering during specific sales windows and then waiting to see whether they are successful. Manchester United also uses a membership-based system, with some fixtures allocated through ballots and different membership levels offering different levels of priority for ticket sales.
The important thing is that buying a membership is usually only the first step. Once you know roughly when you’ll be travelling, check the club’s ticketing calendar, ballot dates and registration windows.
Our Experience at Anfield
We used the membership route to get tickets for Liverpool v Crystal Palace at Anfield.
We weren’t focused on getting into the Kop or finding the perfect seat. We simply wanted to experience a Liverpool home match. We were successful through the membership sale and ended up watching Luis Suárez score a hat-trick at Anfield.
For us, membership worked because we had some flexibility and were comfortable with the fact that tickets weren’t guaranteed.

Option 2: Check the Home Club’s Ticketing Options
If the team you support is playing away, getting tickets through your own club can be much harder. Away allocations are often prioritised for season ticket holders and supporters with a strong attendance history or the required ticket credits.
That doesn’t necessarily mean the match is out of reach. Instead, check the home club’s ticketing system. Depending on the club, you may be able to buy a membership, enter a ballot or access a members’ sale.
We used this approach when Liverpool played Sunderland. Rather than trying to get Liverpool away tickets, we bought Sunderland memberships, entered their home-ticket ballot and were successful.
Our seats were fantastic, front row, around the halfway line and it gave us another way to see Liverpool play while they were the visiting team.
The obvious difference is that you’re sitting with the home supporters. We didn’t wear Liverpool colours or openly celebrate as though we were in the away end, and you need to respect the conditions that come with sitting in that section.
For overseas visitors, this is definitely an option worth checking if away tickets through your own club are unrealistic.

Option 3: Official Hospitality
Official hospitality was the easiest option we’ve used from a planning perspective.
It costs more than a standard match ticket, but the main advantage is certainty. If you’re travelling from Australia and building part of your itinerary around one particular match, being able to secure a ticket well in advance can make planning much easier.
Hospitality packages vary significantly. Some are relatively simple and include a match ticket, food, drinks or access to a hospitality area. Others include premium seating, formal dining and additional extras.

How Much Does Premier League Hospitality Cost?
Prices vary depending on the club, opposition and package.
As a September 2026 snapshot, Liverpool hospitality for Liverpool v Manchester City ranged from around £530 to £1,884 per person.
For Manchester United v Tottenham, packages started from around £225 per person, while premium experiences cost considerably more.
You don’t need to choose the top end. More accessible packages can still include an official ticket, upgraded seating and food or drinks.
Our Wolves Hospitality Experience
We used hospitality when Liverpool played Wolves.
Our package included lunch and drinks before the game, good match seats, food and refreshments at half-time and drinks afterwards.
Interestingly, although it was Wolves hospitality, I’d estimate that at least half the people around us were Liverpool supporters.
For us, the biggest benefit was certainty. We paid more, but the match was locked in well before the trip without the uncertainty of memberships, ballots or later ticket releases.

Premier League Tickets from Australia: Which Option Is Right for Your Trip?
There isn’t one best way to get Premier League tickets, it depends on the trip you’re planning.
If you have some flexibility, start with your club’s membership and ticketing system.
If your team is playing away, check the home club’s options too.
If your trip is built around one particular match and you want more certainty, official hospitality is worth considering despite the higher cost.
For us, all three approaches worked, they just suited different trips.
